Neil Gaiman

Neil Gaiman is one of those writers who makes you forget you're reading. His stories start somewhere familiar and then quietly pull you into something stranger and more beautiful than you were expecting.

He's best known for American Gods, Coraline, The Graveyard Book, and The Sandman, a graphic novel series that genuinely changed what comics could be. He also co-wrote Good Omens with Terry Pratchett, and honestly the two of them together are a little unfair to every other author out there.

Gaiman pulls from mythology, folklore, and fairy tales, but it never feels dusty or academic. His writing feels personal. Like he's telling you something true, just wrapped in a story so you'll actually sit with it.
